SIUE Wedding PhotographySIUE Wedding Photography. Following the ceremony at Mother of Perpetual Health Church, we stopped by the Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville (SIUE) campus for a few portraits before heading to the reception at Aeries Terrace in Grafton, Illinois. Brittany asked for quick portrait of her with her bridesmaids before leaving. One of her bridesmaids stumbled as she approached the others, which resulted in waist-bending laughter that lasted for a bit. Of course, in this situation, we just keep shooting through it all. Sure, we captured a nice portrait of the four of them looking into the lens, after their laughter paused, but these are the type of moments captured in their photographs that will be more meaningful when looking back at their day years from now – it is real. Our primary goal is to always do our best to capture real moments, real emotion, as they organically happen throughout a wedding day – we feel those make the best photos in preserving the memory of the wedding day. We created this photo in the middle of the afternoon with the sun overhead and a bit to the left and against a thick dark tree-line in the background, compressed with a Canon 70-200 at 195mm on a Canon 5D Mark III. The dark distraction-free background and the black and white processing helps us to give our full attention to the moment and the emotion captured in the photo. For those couples getting married in the St. Louis metro east area, the SIUE campus and gardens offer many opportunities and backgrounds for photos.
