St. Louis Wedding Photographer - DowntownTheir wedding ceremony was hosted at the Jewel Box in Forest Park, St. Louis, Missouri with their reception held at Windows on Washington, also in St. Louis. We captured the majority of their portraits in and around Forest Park, but decided to capture a few more close to Windows on Washington downtown. We discovered there were some great lush, open grassy areas located just south of the Casino Queen across the river from the Arch – it’s always exciting to shoot someplace we’ve never been before. After getting some portraits with their wedding party completed, we asked the couple to walk back to the limo bus – just the two of them, without their wedding party. We found a spot at the top of a walkway and captured a series of photographs as the made their way across the grass. The only instruction we gave them was to simply walk back to the limo bus in a way that was comfortable and natural for them – and click, a memorable photographic opportunity emerged to be captured. The sun was in and out as the clouds quickly passed by, so we set our Canon 5D Mark III to shutter priority so the camera would automatically adjust to the quickly changing light to maintain proper exposure balance. We did that so we could focus intently on the moments, instead of the manual adjustments – which would have been required with varying available light. Being able to focus solely on the moments as they happened allowed us to capture this frame just as the groom took her hand, slid it behind his back, guiding her closer to give her a kiss as they walked.
